FPGA logic analyser AKA digital scope

Cam linked me to these two projects :
http://www.hackaday.com/2008/01/28/para ... -analyzer/
http://www.hackaday.com/2007/09/27/usb- ... -analyzer/
From the comments section of the second one I found this nice GPL one :
http://www.sump.org/projects/analyzer/
After looking over the whole page, the guy is meticulous to details. I have no doubts that its a quality piece of gear. Unfortunately tax on imports here in the UK is killer and combined with international shipping its more like 170USD than 100USD. Unfortunately I'm a bit short after component buying etc and I don't need it just yet anyway :-(
Here is a supplier :
http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Det ... od=S3BOARD
And another REALLY small one that may or may not work with that guys software (has no accessories) :
http://www.trenz-electronic.de/prod/xc3s
Some good reading on FPGA operation :
http://www.bioinspired.com/users/ajg112 ... voHW.shtml
This would be an extremely useful tool for analysing the timing of events going into and out of the EMS box.
I'll have to see if any yanks are coming over this way in the next few months and get one sent to their place to bring along.
