not to be outdone by people posting pics of their hardware, ;) i'll post my pics in this thread

these would be some VFD screens i finally received from Singapore, to be hopefully programmed for and installed in my car for interfacing with the EMS

haha, i was so driven to get these to work, I DID! took me about 2hrs total. It is amazing what a geek can do once driven

in action..

Image
notice the de-daughtered v3 board - i am using it only for rs232 - TTL level conversion (so ironic and ghetto, but that was the only means of conversion at the time)

Image
also notice where the power is coming from ;) (a bit hard to see, but it's coming from inside the computer case, 4pin connector into 2pin 5v header, baby) - ghetto/lazy prototyping at its best

software i found after about 5min googling on some german website (even software is in german but i guess i reverse engineered it)

i am impressed with the unit so far - bright sunlight readability for about $12 - not bad!

Because it has zero to do with FreeEMS, I moved it to general. Nice display :-)

You can post a "I've got shiny hardware too" thread in FreeEMS section when your adapt board arrives ;-)
