Another MAX9926 VR board

Good to know, I wont be throwing these boards away anyway. It shouldnt be to hard to come up with a decent enough way to mount the shunt should it be necessary and the boards I dont need will be up for grabs for cheap (unless assembled, those 9926's are relatively expensive, might I enquire where you ordered yours Fred?)

Got a reply from my friends over at Elecrow, the boards where shipped two days ago.. how's that for a turnaround time..
Sadly I was too late to correct anything. Now it's up to chinese EMS shipping to deliver them to my mailbox inside of a month or 2 .

Honestly, I can't remember. It was such a long time ago. And I was trying to dodge overbearing EU import taxation in various ways. Aside from the chip cost, don't forget your time! :-D

These PCB's are just the ticket for some tests with solder paste and reflow oven.
But...I havent ordered a solder mask yet, so it's probably faster to solder them by hand.

I baked mine, and you're right, but the quality and finish of the bake is nicer :-)

Boards came in a couple of days ago, and they look much smaller than I imagined. Fred's brickEMS boards must really have been tiny.
A tube of solder paste has been ordered and is on it's way, cant wait to start baking.

How big are yours? Mine really were tiny, and although they worked fine in the real world, they failed my very own acid test (115V mains AC into input). There was signal coupling causing erratic output. Next one will be better, and similarly tiny :-)

To be honest I actually considered size and went with a bigger board with THT resistors on purpose.. easier to mount when it's not sooo frikkin tiny.
Plus there is no award for tiniest VR sensor board although one might suspect such a thing judging from the couple of boards that were proudly
photographed alongside some US coinage that has no relevance to my european frame of reference.

Having said that, here's a picture of the board (both sides) on an AE86 gauge cluster plate for obscure reference.

I guess it depends how many you need to mount in one small space, and what else must fit in there. Looks good :-)
