Aaron Barnes' wxPython based FreeEMS tuning tool. No longer maintained and out of date with the protocol requirements.

I fixed up my commits to include more comments and the change to the comment in the tuning grid file. Fork/pull from my repo until Aaron finds the time to bring his back inline with it :

http://github.com/fredcooke/freeems-tuner

If you previously pulled yesterday from my last pushes or Aaron's last pushes, wipe that out with a :

Code: Select all

git reset --hard 9d978368ad09d55cca5a8d9272d1bc46e4eafd3e
Before pulling from mine again.

I had someone volunteer to work on the tuner unprompted tonight, so perhaps we'll start seeing some more action on it from them until Aaron's work situation quiets down a bit again :-)

I couldn't copy/paste the text...

The highlighted bit is the bit of interest. That is a clean start of the app, and connect to the device, and nothing else. Note, device was pumping out packets just as it was in welly, but none being recieved. Dodgy serial again? Probably. Though this is the adapter me and rob used for tuning in the USA. It's also the adapter I was using just before leaving. In any case, something is wrong. It'd be nice to get some stats out of it on what sort of data it's getting, rejection reasons, etc. Plus, of course, it shouldn't die, it should just be dropping data, not ever overflowing or whatever caused the error.

Second error is just from unplugging it...

Thoughts?

Awesome :-) You know about the serial review thread, right? I can link it, if not. I need to review myself and also get Dave involved as he has significant practical experience in this area.

Hey, any chance of table save/load? This is a genuine request and a test of the active topics fix.

I added table save to file functionality in a rudimentary form. I'm going to work on reloading it now, in an equally rudimentary form.

Aaron, can you please indicate your intention to maintain FreeEMS-Tuner and keep it inline with current comms standards. If you're not willing/able to do that, do you mind if I move this forum section into the software specific tools area? I've not migrated ECUManager to the front page as Marcos hasn't kept up with the changes either. I'll be happy to migrate either of them back to the front if/when they are maintained and useful tools for a FreeEMS user or dev. Right now neither are. I tried to fix both and failed.

Bringing the python tuner upto date wouldn't be a big deal, just a few extra fields in the table request and a change of header structure and meaning in the packet defs. There are new services too, but you don't have to bother with them, just as long as their aren't regressions, it's OK by me.

I'll leave it here for now, but it won't be long and this site will be seeing a lot more traffic and I don't want people stumbling around trying to make non-wrking apps work, blaming themselves and getting frustrated. If I see no response before 0.1.2 is released then I'll move it anyway. I hope you don't mind.

Move away :) Unfortunately due to time constraints I am unable to maintain the FreeEMS-Tuner at this time.
