Well, I added a small capacitor across the RPM input and the noise disappeared! I fired it up, switched it over and sure enough, it works! :-)

Vids :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHof0v0TQfM actual real first drive!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzLEYXyesg8 idling under load with no throttle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLKUX6C8eno idling in neutral with some throttle

Just took it for another drive, took a datalog:

http://stuff.fredcooke.com/first.driving.log.zip

I could see black smoke out the back and it was starting to fowl the plugs, but with some tuning I know it will run sweet as American Pie :-)

Come on Sean and Aaron, only a few days left and once you guys deliver I've still got to tune the bastard! See what you can pull off today/tonight/tomorrow please!!! For the sake of us all and so I can drive it into DIYAutoTune with pride and buy an upgraded JimStim chip :-)

Now seems like a good time to remind you all about this link :

http://pledgie.com/campaigns/2414 - feel free, lots of work ahead and I'm unemployed again now...

If someone wants to donate me another TA card then I can put one in my truck when I get back and not have to swap my one card in and out of the car. PM if interested.

Those of you with TA hardware, get it working! Me, Sean, Cam have ours up, Abe will have his back soon, there are at least 4 more of you though. Get it done, help test! :-)

Regards,

Fred.

I just took the car out with Aaron's latest and greatest and performed the very first FreeEMS tuning session, this was a success with the engine idling smoothly and driving a bit better. I need more functionality out of Aaron in the short term, and there are a few table based bugs to solve etc, but we are on our way. I will definitely be driving it north to Atlanta soon enough.

It is strange you mention a small cap.

Trying to get MS to run my subaru i have been plaged with noise even though the stock ecu has no problem or another ECU i been playing with..

The stocker and the other aftermarket unit has a small cap on almost ever input pin on this fella. they are all surface mount on the stocker. If you want i can snap some pics for you..

No need, I've seen that myself on toyota and other boxes too. I just threw it together in a hurry in Phoenix and didn't quite do it right. Working now though, so that's good :-)

It's been underway for a while, mate. Just needed someone to step up and try it out ;-) 95% + of the code running the car is 6 months + old. I'm happy it was me that tried it first, though :-)

Last night SeanK got the parser code to a usable point and produced this screen shot, his file naming:

http://stuff.fredcooke.com/slacker.jpg

It may have highlighted a slight error in my firmware. I'm going to go through that today, tweak it to be even better and maybe fix my own issue. I'll also be testing Aaron's latest stuff and with a bit of luck, tuning the car some :-)

Expect more datalogs/videos/etc soonish :-)

Fred.
