looking for automotive connectors, any suggestions?

Post by oden »

Looking for a source of automotive connectors, are there any cheaper options then DIYautoTune?

Would like to pick the connectors rather then getting the mixed bag that is supplied in their weather Packs.

I tend to just use good condition second hand stuff from wrecked cars combined with minimal of them. IE, only on sensors and solenoids etc, no "in the middle" ones. Sorry that I can't help!

trailer wiring is what I used for my ignition. weather proof, wasn't expense, easy to find, large wires.

I have also been scavenging connectors from a couple of old
Volvo harnesses I have in a box.

From a brickspeed.net thread here:

I found this:

They might have something useful for you.

If I can make a late contribution.. another option is Ampseal 16 and the more compact TE quadlock range. I get them from RS Online.

You have to order the pin housing, socket housing, pins and sockets separately. Nice thing is you can get gold plated pins and sockets for low voltage stuff like NB Lambda.

I ended up ordering a heap of Delphi 150 series from mouser as they were really cheap and easy to use.

At first glance I almost ordered the wrong parts, a note for anyone else thinking of getting these connectors. For one 8 pin connector you need to order the following parts:

Male plug
8 Male pins
Female plug
8 females pins
16 cable seals to match the diameter of the pins
1 CPA lock, optional

I order a lot of stuff from http://www.waytekwire.com/products/ . They have a wide range of weatherproof stuff that is really good for engine bay wiring.

StarTech 8-Inch 24 Pin ATX 2.01 Power Extension Cable (ATX24POWEXT)

Can i use one of these chopped in half for my ecu?

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-8-Inch-P ... B000FL60AI

I can't spend 50 dollars for a simple connector, and this will be much easier for me to solder wire by wire
