Kickstarter has relaxed their restrictions.

Kickstarter used to specifically disallow automotive related projects. They seem to allow them now.

Looks like the June 04, 2014 change is mostly about the drop of the approval phase. I've got my EFI kickstarter approved/funded back in April, so I guess automotive is allowed for quite some time now.
