November 22nd

Repacking of bags, slight tuning of engine, clean up of workshop, checkout of hotel, 4 hour train ride, search of several people crossing the border (fuck border patrol bastards, way too paranoid about genuine people!!!), and an AMAZING ride in the mighty snot rocket from the train station to Sim's house where we just finished talking at nearly 4am. Pikers include Mike, Jeff, Andy, Isabel. Peter, Sim and I held on to the bitter, cold and very tired end :-) Another great day!

November 27th

Got back from Canuckia and checked into the hotel before heading down to the workshop to turn on the heat and then prepare some code. Ended up not going back and instead coded until I had a working result. Most of that was with Peter looking over my shoulder kinda pair programming style. Snoring ensued.

November 28th

A HUGE day of great team work between Peter and I! Lots achieved, great results had, good times too! :-)

Achievements included:

• Fixing some faulty wiring from the WikiSpeed team. (Peter)
• Adding a new wiring feature to enable the car to be turned off with just the key (previously it ran on) (Peter and Fred)
• Building the H-Bridge module into the Jaguar+OEM ECU setup. (Fred)
• Full pin usage documentation in two concise pages (Peter)
• Integration of PID into working firmware capable of running the engine (Fred)
• Debugging and repair of bad solder joints caused by Fred (Peter and Fred)
• Slight tuning of PID parameters (Fred)
• Filming some sweet vids of it all (Peter and Fred)

Should be fun tomorrow to briefly play with it :-)

November 29th

Today may have been brief, but was a great success. HUGE thanks to Peter for making it possible at all. What a legend. I nearly cried at the airport after he dropped us off. Will miss ya! <3

Fired up the car on DBW and it ran fine, so shut it down and added an idle feature. Fired up OK, but forgot to setup the axis, so shut it down again and did that, then fired it up, and step by step tuned the throttle opening as it warmed up. But...

Then it started to idle low and die, right after I gave it a solid rev. Hmmmmmm. Then we noticed the fuel filter was empty/dry. Uh oh. Just at that moment Mario arrived to say hello, bad timing. Had to bleed the returnless rail out to get it to run at all. It would fire up and then die. Got it bled out and it ran nicely again. Success.

I think the calibration for the dual TPS was different on the car, compared to the spare, so closing the opening down to zero didn't make it idle lower. Either that or a leak, I guess.

All in all, success. The car now starts, idles, warms up with a reducing RPM over time, and revs to the limiter from the throttle pedal. As a bonus, when you turn off the key, it dies, as it should, but didn't. The only thing missing was A the auto gearbox control needed to drive/abuse it and B the fancy stuff like vtec, vtc, egr, variable intake geometry, etc is not used, yet.
