Keep Free FreeEMS Hardware In Circulation

Post by Fred »

Whether it be tools or actual FreeEMS hardware or related stuff like widebands etc, if you're given it, and at some point later, aren't going to make use of it, please pass it on. This includes me too, obviously, though I won't be returning anything to the pool any time soon. Clearly this is voluntary because it's after the fact and no deals were cut before sending stuff out, however I'd like to see people respecting this principal all the same.

People who have free stuff now
  • Me: Various items... regular use
  • Dave MTX: One TA card occasional use?
  • Preston: One TA card and matching hotel, one logic analyser kit regular use
  • Daniel/em_knaps: One TA card regular use
  • Sean: One logic analyser kit, one saleae 8 regular use
  • Sim: One logic analyser kit no use yet, not ready
  • Spudmn: One Puma board regular use
  • Peter: One SLC-OEM wbo2 regular use
  • AbeFM: One BDM borrowed from me two years ago, one PowerEFI-F16 given by Sean0 Neither used, in use, nor likely to be used.
People who had free stuff and passed it on
  • Aaron PYT: One TA card -> Daniel/em_knaps Good Man, Aaron!
  • Me: One TA card and matching hotel. -> Preston I had 1 spare!
  • Hentai: One A3 Jaguar -> Rob/m2cupcar Went away to war!
Bought Gear Collecting Dust

If you've got FreeEMS hardware or test gear sitting around collecting dust because you've lost interest or sold your car or got married or whatever, why not donate it or even just lend it to someone that will put it to good use? It would be a valiant gesture for sure! I can only think of a couple of guys that have gear they're not using right now, but I know there are something like 30 TA cards out there, plus the jags and pumas, so there's far more than this sitting dusty and unused.
  • CamW: One TA card sitting in a box
  • Karri: One TA card lost in a corner
  • Marcos: Many Pumas no running cars, no sign of him
  • Preston: Multiple Pumas, no running engines, no sign of him. Please come back! <3
  • Peter: One analogue-only SLC-OEM module Available to a good home! This has not got the firmware with non-fp numbers. Digital works, but probably won't be supported in FreeEMS except for logging, which could be useful.
Heaps more, no idea where it all went, though.

Bought Gear Being Actively Used

Gear people have bought that is getting good use on their desks and/or cars!
  • Me: Various items... on the bench, being developed with!
  • Peter: Five TA cards Two on two cars, being driven!
  • Sim: One TA card in his car, daily driven!
  • Mike: One TA card developing EMStudio!
  • Andy: Many Jags and a TA card one Deuce Coupe running strong!
  • Sean: One TA card developed on daily...ish :-)
  • Spudmn: One Puma paid via burgerfuel running a race car!
Looking To The Future

In future I'll try to make sure that people who get free stuff agree to this in advance such that gear isn't wasted.

If I've forgotten someone with something, let me know so I can add them to the list.

If you have hardware that you'd like to send to a better home, post here! Also, I've updated the thread a lot since posting it a few hours ago.

Craig 1 puma, varying state of distress.
(both board and user, lol)
Will resist urge to smash and pass it on if best efforts fail ;)

I'll buy a USB BDM module off you JT... well, once Aaron has his say on my puma matter.

Presto informed me of a number of things this evening:

1) Used the EXTREME power of the hotel to write-off a Toyota of some sort, insurance papers say "other car damage: scratched bumper"
2) Replaced the ignition leads and plugs today due to no-start condition
3) Showed me some logs of him driving it
4) Pointed out that the month of not driving to work was over
5) Will be back in Auckland for some 4age loving in a week

I'd better edit the post.

5 TA cards. Two collecting dust that were bought to make full sequential ignition, and fuel engines. 1 with a S12XEP100 for obvious reasons. ;-)

Edit: I did get a free SLC-OEM unit with updated firmware from www.14point7.com if somebody wants my old one.
