new to freeEMS questions!

Post by lseba »

hi
im really interested on building my freeEMS for a dodge dakota 3.9 v6 and implement a bifuel system
i have certain knowledge in programing and electronics and mechanics.
which would be the best board design to start with? jaguar? i've read that the puma board is not longer mantained.
my vehicle has two hall sensors (5v square wave output). one at the cranckshaft and other at the distributor (camshaft). isthere a firmware tha supports this signals or ill have to program that?( with your help)
very exited about this project

Tell us what exactly the signals look like, maybe, maybe not. It shouldn't be hard to add once you have it wired up, anyway.

Welcome along, excuse the anti spam system.

Best hardware design is jaguar or ravage, or DIY :-)

After spending hours in the last couple days reading the forums and code to get a feel for whether freeEMS is for me, Im pretty sure it is. However Im a little unsure what my hardware options are.

Im fairly sure my only option at this stage is the TA board + vero which is fine by me. But is the ravage or jaguar designs likey to be a produced board we can purchase anytime soon? Is that even the intention?

For the time being, yes, if you want something NOW, it's TA plus vero. I think you'll find that by the end of year there will be a number of options available, though. If you're planning on testing and being good to work with, great, but I don't really need more support load right now, so if you just want to "use" it, then hold off for the time being and you'll be happier in the end.

If i win the auction for the engine Im bidding on then i will be going ahead with TA + vero. I dont imagine ill be much of a burden for any of the software/firmware side of things, i may even code up the 360-1 decoder for the vq35de. However my electronics is my weakest skill, but there seems to be plenty of other circuits i can copy, so that seems to be sweet too.

Stay tuned.

Post a thread on the pattern(s) that the decoder would need to deal with, in the decoder section and we'll go from there :-)
