Stuck In A Loop

After a GREAT time had, and absolutely NO FreeEMS work, as you could see, it was time to go back south to LA. On a whim I decided to track down Apple HQ and expose my corny sense of humour to the lens of my camera.

Off-roading LA Style

On the way south I hung out with my favourite fireman friend Chris "I <3 GM" Cuz and his fine family (I love alliteration). Chris took me up into the mountains on the south side of LA in his suburban for a day which was an interesting contrast to the other end of LA, that's for sure! At the time he warned me that it was all going to go up in flames due to the way it was being managed. Sure enough, not too long later it did, and he was on the job fighting it.

Mexican Coke

Finally it was back to San Diego to farewell Abe and carry on on my way around the big country that is the US of A. Abe is a romantic at heart, and had hooked me up with some REAL coke, not that horse piss HFCS; it's made over the border in Mexico. As you can see, I was quite attached to the notion of real sugar after only a couple of weeks of the the concept of not having it sinking in. We also had to load the car with wine! :-)

Spanish Wine

Of course, it wouldn't be me if there wasn't a copious volume of Spanish Red wine available at all times, would it? :-) If you're wondering what the red thing and broken glass are doing under the mighty Volvo, that's just Abe's idea of a practical joke. He put some old bent panels under there for me to reverse over and find. I think he expected me to get worried about the noises, no such luck, however.

Sunny San Diego

The next day I took a look around the city as I'd not really seen it in the first few days before going north. It was my last chance to do so before making tracks for Sean's place and the events that will unfold right here during chapter two. The red dinghy was a blast from the past, we used to have one exactly the same when I was a child.

Coronado

I decided to finish up with a trip over to the far side of town and found a pristine beach teeming with life, and a LOT of strict rules. I could almost read "no fun" between the lines. It felt like a retirement village over there, as nice as it was. I was so distracted by the Pleasantville atmosphere that I nearly ran the car completely out of fuel. The Egon Oldendorff ship was a blast from the past, too. I went for a trip around half of New Zealand on one of those old girls when I was about 10 years old.

Goodbye SoCal

That night we celebrated my visit with some fine Spanish wine and some cunning linguistics, among other activities! And no, I have NO idea why I had a necklace on in that otherwise quite nice photo! :-/
