Be Careful With Your Pins!!!

Post by Fred »

Preston has scrapped my TA CPU in NZ recently. He somehow attached 12v directly to the BRV ADC input pin, and possibly the EGO one too. Both are dead.

I'll be making allowances for him for the time being (only), but in general, if you fry your pins, you need to replace and re-BDM-SM the CPU. This costs a bit of money and some time and is tricky. It's not recommended to break your CPU! :-)

The ordering above is AN00, AN01, AN02, AN03, AN07, AN06, AN05, AN04.

Lots of protection devices (zener, etc) are probably worth it in something used for development. I'd say same with software; it's nice to have some #defines or macros that turn on various variable bounds and sanity checks.

So what you're saying is that he should have had it off while he was wiring it up? :-)
