The Ultimate Tuner? Possibly not, but...

Post by Fred »

...but I'm sick of using other people's unreliable, buggy, untrustworthy, difficult to build, hard to use, poorly written software to calibrate the firmware in my cars and those of others. So instead I'm going to be using my own software with, for a start, the same exact adjectives, to achieve goals such as tuning tables and configuring settings. Dog fooding with no one to blame but myself. Progress reports here. Start a comments thread if you wish. Just hot air so far, though. Mostly... :-)

3 months later, I drove one of my FreeEMS powered cars for the first time in many more months than that, and it was glorious. Unlike the software experience, which was, as per usual, abysmal. Perhaps I can turn some of this hot air into code at some point soon. U* tools expire in 4 days, so I'll have to do another shame build with no change, or make some changes to make the world a better place. Preferably the latter. We'll see.

Spent a couple of hours last night searching my cheetah and FreeAir boxes for ancient notes on this. Found:
  • UltimateTuner.txt
  • another tuner .txt
  • a directory with various documents and a binary of a skeleton/fake tuner i forgot i wrote
  • a comprehensive set of instructions to someone else on how to build a good tuner
I'll need to consolidate these, as some of it will be wrong from learnings thereafter. EDIT: Done. 2678
