does the miata have exhaust? Timing sounds like its firing ATDC. like a weed wacker~ I would know as I had once had the miata running on ms2 ATDC, what a racket.

I'll check with the guy, but it could be that it does not - AFAIK Miata is on floor stands and turbo is unmounted. If turbo is in fact unmounted there is a chance there is no exhaust.

I have to confess I've failed to solder LQFP 100 - I had to ask a more capable person to do that for me. Not really a do-it-yourself package :(

Frankenso (Frankenstein for Denso) is now release candidate.

This board would fit inside a 90s denso case (think 1st gen MX-5 or 1996 Camry), one would have a choice to solder an stm32f4 chip right on the PCB or plug in a stm32f4discovery.

The code is modular enough that one can launch the firmware logic with Windows hardware abstract layer - sorry for technical details, but the bottom line is that you can run the firmware & tune it via Tuner Studio with just windows, without any real hardware.
