Oookay, here we go:
recently we came up to a status where there is a board ready to manufacture and be tested.

This is the very first prototype, I hope it will take 3 spins (it usually does) to get to a fully complete, reliable piece of hardware.

You can see the development here:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=884
fb page here:

Right now, this is the list of guys who pre-ordered boards:

5 Marcos - Argentina [RECEIVED]
5 Abe - California/San Diego
2 Fred - New Zealand/Auckland [SENT]
2 Seank - Arizona/Phoenix
1 Craig - New Zealand/Auckland [SENT]
1 Joseph Davis - North Carolina - there are only 2 towns. [SENT & RECEIVED]
1 johntramp - New Zealand/Christchurch
2 flyrdm - ?
1 em_knaps - New Zealand/Auckland [with fred's] ?
1 mops - New Zealand/Auckland [SENT]
1 yoshifab - California/San Diego
1 Nick S - California/San Diego
1 phr34kr - New Zealand/Auckland [SENT]
2 Karri - Finland!
1 dirtydsi - ?
1 colza - New Zealand/Napier [waiting for a programmed board]
1 Motofab - California/South of LA somewhere before Mexico.
1 Gimpy - Nebraska/ only one town here...
1 gearhead - usa [SENT] (received?)
2 cavehamster - ?
1 f1erce - New Zealand/?

Keen for a spare if available:

Hentai - USA
DCramer Canada
dealwithit - USA
AldoQ - Mexico [SENT]]
Preston - Auckland NZ [SENT]
yoshifab wants 2 extras

Spares:

0-2 Marcos
0-3 Abe
1 mtxman
1 Jean
1 Quan-Time

They cost me $3 each plus tooling (around $110). I'm selling each at $5 plus postage. The BOM is available as a digikey's .csv in the git repo. https://github.com/nitrousnrg/puma/raw/ ... %20BOM.csv

The important thing: It comes with NO WARRANTY AT ALL. I'll do my best to solve any design issues (even if they are my very, very stupid mistakes), provide solutions, or whatever it takes to make this design ready for production. But keep in mind it might not work off the shelf.

Also, it is mostly SMD stuff, and a serial monitor loader is required (google for "turbo bdm", a diy loader)

FRED EDIT START
  • The CPU requires a BDM to do the initial programming of the Serial Monitor, you can buy these and probably build one, but it would be best to get someone with one to do it for you, maybe by post.
  • Some of the components are fairly specialist (CPU, VR interface, FTDI, etc) and will need to be ordered, apparently a full BOM is around 100usd, you could probably go cheaper if you dont need it all, or do bulk buy for parts too.
  • SMD components require somewhat specialist assembly, do some googling, the best way is by oven! Not one at a time.
  • Marcos is being ridiculously generous with his $5usd+postage pricing, unless you are broke, be generous and overpay him by what you think is fair, please. He's worked hard on this, as have others (mainly Jared). It would be nice if he made some pocket money from this.
FRED EDIT END

So, feel free to speak up and add yourself to the list if you want to try it. Deadline is December 27th 2010. Yes, I'm in a hurry :-)

Marcos, yoshifab is confirmed "Count me in, i have the perfect project for this." and one more for his friend, Nick, who was the one that inspired the Volvo USA project in the first place! :-)

No, good question, order right here, done, and pay before they ship out. I'll cover any arseholes that pull out, and then persecute them for the rest of their days :-)

great, you're in.
26 boards so far. Way too much for a prototype, but you've been warned :-)

I'll give some paypal info this night, or as soon as I can. Anyway, is in the shipment where I am totally ignorant.
