I have, on it's way to me, one of these fine units, direct from Germany, where they are made: My I proudly present the Rommelsbacher Speedy BG 950! :-) http://www.rommelsbacher.de/en/getInfoE ... l=BG%20950Just under a kilowatt of infrared (infrarot(de)/infrarojo(es)) POWER! And, as if that wasn't enough, I'm planning to supplement it with two more tubes out of something like this: I have one of these: STGW30NC60KD http://www.st.com/internet/com/TECHNICA ... 175352.pdf3V drop, 600V, 30A IGBT and a heatsink out of an old TV. I'm planning to PWM the tubes using it to gain an acceptable reflow heat profile. FreeEMS will be in control of this reflow oven. I'm dubbing it "FreeEMS, the swiss army knife of tuning!" :-) I don't have a sensor or thermocouple controller yet, though that shouldn't be hard to sort out. Stay tuned for updates! :-) Fred.

Where is the "like" button? anyhow LIKEFred wrote: I'm dubbing it "FreeEMS, the swiss army knife of tuning!" Surely it would be more appropriate to use a MS to control it, and hope that it can do it correctly! Not much good for anything else. "Mega Squirt, make FreeEMS unit bitch!" @ the oven where it belongs.

Woops, I can't use that IGBT, unless I rectify the AC first! Hmm, that could work fine, it's just heating...

It arrived today, and I made toast! I can't wait to use it for something else ;-) 13" Air for scale. As you can see, it's not overly even in heat distribution, however it should be good enough for initial trials and I can modify it to help with that later. Fred.

I love the first part of the video, and the guitar in it, though it's really not my style of music at all. The wife loved the music, though :-)
I won't Presto, they don't come much more bare foot, hard core diy and genuine hard working honest kiwi than me and you fucking know it! ;-)

My K type controllers arrived today. Hopefully the k type sensor arrives soon, then I can plot the temperature of the oven in various places over time with full power applied and see how good/crap it is.
