Yes the saleae can record indefinitely attached to a PC but for me, more often than not the USB seems to bug out so I can record until the USB goes limp. Some other people I know also have issues with USB when running high sample rates, there is no rhyme or reason for when the USB goes wacky. USB is a total b*tch to develop for especially when you are not using plain vanilla HID/Mass storage/serial modes, so I am very forgiving and have sympathy for saleae.

For me, it only does that when the USB bus is busy or the CPU is over worked. On an unloaded box with a straight connection to it (not through a hub), I get consistently higher rates. On the other hand, when I use the over heated macbook air, it can barely do the lowest rates without failing.
