Then see article on page 22 about Thermal Performance including thermal Via's. The article is titled "optimizing PCB Thermal Performance for Cree XLamp LEDs"

The short hand version is that a typical 1.6mm (.0625in) thick PCB's thermal resistance is around 30C/W and can be boosted to 12C/W (250% better) by adding SnAgCu filled .6mm vias.
