Pete's first try

Hi,
My name is Peter and i'm going to make things easier for myself. I was going to set up a 1985 chevy 350ci engine (which I already have) with multi port fuel injection and ignition controlled by an ECU and stick it in a 1985 Chevy Astro van (that has a 4.3 liter V6). But to make things easier I have a 1996 dodge grand caravan with 253,000 miles on it that we were going to get rid of. It has multi port injection already, it has three coils wasted spark setup (V6 engine) and all the sensors. So I just have to build the ECU and figure out the wiring. This is the least expensive way for me to get started. Other wise I would have to get intake manifolds, mount sensors, and lots of other things I'm sure. Its still going to be an adventure.

Sounds good!

Figure out the details of the grand caravan engine including crank and/or cam signal details and other parameters like injector size, exact capacity in cc/ml and any other details like temperature curves and injector specs etc, and post it up here to continue :-)

The crank/cam stuff is the defining factor of "how much work for the firmware devs" to get you running. Ideally zero work. Possibly a bunch of work. Dodge is Chrysler and to date we don't support all of the special dodge patterns. We have run a Neon, though.

This section has lots of variations of the theme in it, including the two dodge types that I know of: viewforum.php?f=56

"On 6-cylinder engines, this sensor is a Hall effect device that detects notches in the flexplate."

Weird dodgey shit for sure. Easy enough to roll a decoder though. Applies to 3.0, 3.3, 3.8.

Not that easy. I tried and screwed it up. I will get it right though and it should support
the Volvo renix stuff and this equally, by the look of that picture (6-2 missing tooth per
cylinder with dizzy). There's a bit of tech debt lying in the way of it working, sadly. I opted
not to run the Volvo due to the effort involved, but the work has to get done some time.
