And it still won't go! Charged the battery overnight and gave it another try this morning. Same behaviour which I'm still analysing in my head. Cranks and cranks faster and faster and then fires and then dies. Next time, when it fires, I'll keep on the starter and give it some gas. One more try, then I'll buy another can of: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 8611553281And see if we can make it run that way. I've gotta say, my hotel started more easily after a day's skiing than this! :-D

Got it going this morning and took it for a drive, drives nicely. Shifts too early for my liking, but you can lock it down if you want to. Needs manual. Gave it a bit of shit out of a give way and it started to slip a rear, and the front came in and it just accelerated. Lots of traction. Not much in the way of burnouts :-D
Will give it another run and fill it with fuel later, then cross fingers and park it up for the night. Might have been vapour lock or some such? Once it started it ran fine, straight away, revs came up, smoothed out, mint.

Full of fuel, and at the gas station, mileage was 228670km. Zeroed both trip counters, and filled it with 51.35 litres of BP 95 RON fuel at a total cost of $106.76, ie 207.9 cents per litre. Partially packed now, and next steps are shower, more wine, pack bags bar what I'll sleep in/on/with, load those things into car, go to bed. Then it's: Get up, eat breakfast, throw food and sleeping gear in car, say "see you soon" to my host, and bugger off into the wild blue yonder. Twitter had these things to say, about today: She runs/on charge: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 3213968385Kitchen gear found in car: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 1632022528Legacy turbo on a smart car: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 32466298906 speed subby box: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 8455290880Bed supports being stripped down: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 1924790272Drawers: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 8777522180Whole lot: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 0781706242Affair with another lover: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 0399618048Miles before return trip, slightly higher than when I kicked it over: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 3029945345First fuel up: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 4513497088Time for that shower! :-p Fred

5pm sitting in front of the ferry check in an hour early! RB and ATESSA performed admirably. As I sent to a couple of people: "Difficult to believe that this is 300kg heavier than my skyline was. Driving manners are very much the same, except no loss of traction, and ABS. Got myself that skyline driving experience, but without the risk of theft, high price, and police harassment. :-)" Also managed to: - Completely ruin this N5 by barrel roll off of Stagea roof and along road at 80kph
- Pick up four Volvo wheels/tyres in Motueka
- Fill up with fuel in Motueka
- Have lunch by the sea in Marahau
- Check out Alex's workshop and home in Marahau
No tickets, not too many angry motorists, not a bad day! 453.6 + 225.2 = 678.8km Tweets to come. Pics taken along the way. 745am to 505pm 9 hours and 20 minutes, including all stops etc. Average speed 72.73kph. Peak, can't say. Multiply by ? <= 2. Next stop, Wellington! :-)

Hashtags preserved this time since some add to the moment. And sad bonus following all of the above: Bits of the phone I'm posting this from The result of an 80kph tumble off the roof of the Stagea. Woops. https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 2279820289

Yeah... sorry about that! It has served me well, and will not be retired anytime soon! Everything still works, which is amazing, the smash mark in the lower corner is pretty impressive, all dented in. All of that glass came out of the lower mic/led panel, so doesn't matter much. Looks really bad, though :-)
Beautiful day here in Wellington, today. Blue sky, mild breeze, lovely. Off to hang out with various friends soon. Had a good night talking sh*t with an old friend last night and this morning.

Today: Hung out with four long lost Welly friends, drove around the coast line enjoying the car, tried to do some donuts, made a 4 part list, of which part 4 was a distant fourth. 1) RWD switch. 2) LSD (clutch type, rear) 3) Manual box 4) RB30DET - 450-600hp @ crank 1 will help me find out how bad 2 is (currently can't really tell). 2 will help me enjoy the vehicle to a greater extent. 3 will allow me to fully enjoy it. 4 will make it fast. https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 6511611904https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 3466041344https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 5691705344https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 2338392065https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 9725272065https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 6842337281https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 0779830273https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 4978471936https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 0217868288As before, if you feel the need :-) - Tomorrow, loiter in town for a few hours, fuel up, then ascend slowly toward the Naki.
- Wednesday early start, fuel up, then up through Hamiltron to grab the Starlet wheels.
- Thursday, around the house, furiously organising, throwing out, arranging, cleansing, etc.
Fred.
