If you have some general comment to make on the fleet, or a thread-less vehicle, you can do it here. I can't see this thread being too popular, however I want to keep the other one locked to maintain continuity as I post up summaries for each vehicle. Bug reports for incorrect links etc also welcome. Finally, I'll add posts for the honorable mentions here, as they don't really belong in the other thread.

Post subject:  My mate's family KP60 Starlet

This little car was not fast, but it was a great deal of fun. Only the mother could drive, so while she was overseas I got to use it and ferry them around in it somewhat. At some point they lent it to a family friend, and I was the one that delivered it there. That guy drove it back to drop us off. He shifted out of first into second after some time valve bouncing and performed the rest of the journey in second at high revs. Horrible experience :-D

It also nearly killed me because another family friend had worked on the brakes and put a rear shoe in backward. The corner wore off and the piston popped out. Moments after heavy braking near cliffs. Thereafter, I never let anyone work on my brakes, period.

Pic(s) to come, if there are any.

Post subject:  Dad's 1994 Navara TD27

Known colloquially as "low miles" because of how far from the truth that is, this truck took over day to day duties from my truck when mine finally lost its head gasket. It's been many places both before and after dad buying it, and it's seen and done many things. The previous owner is a grubby old man with a stripper wife/girlfriend, and claimed to have gotten it to 160kph a few times. I had it to 140 on gravel once. But it really isn't comfortable over about 80 :-D

Disappointingly boring pics to come, some time.

Post subject:  My ex's 1996 AE111 BZ-G Toyota Levin

Linds' Levin! A great little car for a girl. Faster than my skyline from being lighter and having more power and a more efficient driveline. 8k redline. ITBs. Fantastic fun for a FWD car. The Lantis would be faster but the Lantis is fat and about 200kg more than this, and smoother/more refined as a result.

Post subject:  My wife's ex 2001 Seat Ibiza

This was my wife's aunt's car, nick named Piolin (tweety in English). Aunty Garlic, as my wife and her sisters called her. I got told off this morning for using the term, oops. I drove this car back and forward from Madrid to Barcelona a number of times, and around Madrid a fair bit, and around Barcelona and the adjacent countryside quite a lot. It's now in the hands of one of my wife's cousin, hence it's her ex car, not my ex wife, for the confused.

Pretty fun to drive, and quite entertaining to do a FreeEMS install on, here's a few pics and a link for your enjoyment:

Some of your early cars are celebrities in the FreeEMS story and it's difficult to see them parked or in need of repairs. The Ute and Hotel, for example, were both very motivating to me as I worked to get my car off its Toyota ECU. At the same time, I'm very eager to see some of these new vehicles lose their OEM ECUs as fast as possible.

What's your current priority on these cars? What needs attention most immediately and what's the plan? (ie. repair, FreeEMS, pass inspection, etc.)

Well, today I bought number 10, a 1998 JDM Mazda Millenia with KL-ZE engine. So the current priority, once I retrieve it, is to strip the good bits out if it and send it to the scrapper ASAP! :-)

And the money shot:

Tomorrow I'll attempt to buy number 11, a 1983 KP60 Toyota Starlet. That'll get its own thread if I succeed. Stay tuned for more info as the story unfolds.

December 12 is drag racing and I want the ute and 3 or 4 other cars to go along for my pleasure. This means the ute engine is top of the list. Super keen for the 240 to get legal again, but it has to wait a bit. Hotel engine and WOF will happen when I find a good replacement engine for it. KL-ZE + FreeEMS into Lantis late December or January. Fix and retrieve #11 ASAP amongst all of that. By March I hope the count is 9 again, and all keepers.

Does that answer your questions sufficiently? :-D

Fred.

Done! Scroll up slightly. :-) Not bad for $680NZ though it is rougher than it looks. Hopefully the engine only owes me 300 by the time I'm done selling scrap etc. We'll see.

Auction won! (by brute force) Thread posted! (by candle light) viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2629

Drove the Millenia home to a mate's place tonight! Great car aside from the warts/boils (rear wheel bearing, cracked flex plate?, iffy shifting or dodgy engine mounts, crash damage, ruined interior, jap frequency radio, etc). Would have been sweet when newer/fresher. Engine is in good shape, though, and that's all that matters to me, so I'm happy. Took a couple of nice photos, will add them here soon.
