Last of the Millenia came home today: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 6683919362

Need to cleanse the pieces, make a stack of scrap metal to discard, and test fit the brakes to the Lantis.

940 kill is getting closer. Will be needing various parts from it for a 740 WOF.

An interesting piece of hardware from Ferdinand: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 5008669697

Picked up some of my remaining beetle parts today, and will pick up the balance tomorrow. Interior of my gran's one is in mint condition, and the rare bits of the oval are all there.

By tomorrow I clearly meant tomorrow and the next day... The largest of the three loads being on Tuesday evening completely filling the Lantis. This evening I emptied the second load from the Volvo 740 into storage with the bodies. Tomorrow evening I'll either go for a cruise north to do a few things or I'll empty another car into storage. That'll leave just one for the weekend. So by the weekend all of my VW parts will be within 40 feet or less of each other! That's the closest they've been for about 15 years :-D Tentative goal to extract the oval by the start of next winter for some winter project love. Who knows which spanners life will throw into my works, however I'd love to cruise around in a beetle again. Such fun little cars :-) If I pull one out, that'd justify making a dedicated thread, too... and threads mean photos... and photos mean progress... and progress means driving it! :-D

Or I could have done both, so I did. Lantis empty, VW meet up attended, father visited, speeding ticket retrieved, old friend met, another friend visited, busy night! Just the Suzuki to empty this weekend. My list for the weekend is a mile long. Hopefully I can give some of the fleet some love amongst it all.

So... I am thinking about increasing the fleet back to 10. I like round numbers. And square cars. Hmmmm. Just what I need, more hassle! :-/

Maybe a good way to bring a boosted white block into my life? Absolutely mint. Amazing condition. A++.

This thread isn't about my garage enough, so here's something that is: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 3844286465

This is one of the seats from the Freda van I bought for the disk brake 5 stud axle for the ute. em_knaps has the other one, identical, or nearly so, in his garage :-)

Those who know my top secret location are welcome to come and hang out in the garage, including sitting on the van seat/couch/sofa. As of yesterday, it's really quite a pleasant place to spend time! Well lit, roomy, fully featured, clean, tidy, decent audio, heating, comfy seating, etc.

Request: Some actual photos of "Fred's Garage". I saw a glimpse of a workbench an arranged chemicals it looked glorious. How are you dealing with temperature changes and things that aren't happy being stored in those highs/lows?

Can't worry too much about the cold/heat - never really gets above lukewarm anyway, fairly consistently matches the weather and/or upstairs. It's well ventilated, so the only thing remotely moist is the floor itself. Anything not sitting directly on the floor is fine. Anything sitting on the carpet in the store room has to be on something porous, though, or mould comes up through the carpet in the confined sealed area as the moisture level rises with no where to go.

Semi reluctant to post too many pics of the garage publicly, however I may come around on that at some point. We'll see. You'd like it, though. It's pretty well organised and very usable, along with being packed with very interesting goodies and tools :-)

There are a few pics out there already, let's have a quick look... OK, not what I thought. Ran out of time. Nag at will. :-p
