Got a bunch of stuff for this car, and the 740, today from Zebra! Between yesterday and today I spent about 350nzd there on bits for both cars.

One thing I nabbed was a steering wheel, which may be a little better than my existing one, allowing me to use one of them (either existing or new) as a base for a custom 740-based wheel.

Not sure if this will wind up in the 740 or 240 but: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2639&p=40873#p40873

240 got a little love tonight and is better off for it!

1) Replaced the dead boot switch with a working boot switch and now have boot operated interior light for the luggage area, yay.
2) Cleaned the retention mechanism of grime and gunk leaving it gold and lovely looking
3) Scrubbed rust stains from that mechanism off the paint below where it had run down over time, leaving gold paint
4) Scraped surface rust/bubbles/paint off around lower guard attachment point and washed with brake clean until it ran clear
5) Rust killed the underlying steel with a product called "rostfort" or similar
6) Discovered that the crack around the lower hinge is smaler than I thought and the rest is surface rust patches in a strange shape
7) Discovered that the upper hinge has similar surface rust around it, but no crack

Left to do on that front:

1) Scrape around the hinges until only flat pitted steel remains
2) Rust kill the flat pitted steel around the hinges

Pull the door off and fix it properly! No time before Saturday morning, though, so likely won't get any of those things done before I drag it in for a WOF :-) Summer is coming, the 240 must be road legal once again! :-D

240 is road legal once again! Exciting! :-D

I used it today to do the parts mission for the 740 engine, such a lovely vehicle to drive! Still in love. <3

Nice having the tail gate switch working and trunk light working. Used that an hour ago in the dark to sort out stuff for tomorrow :-)

Will get some use tomorrow, too. Big day for me. And a big one at work on Monday, too.

The trusty 240 wagon did some hard work today!

https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 2431704064

Hauling parts for its 740 sedan cousin! :-D

I bumped the headliner with the cross member bolt, too :-( Hopefully the mark just wipes off.

I bought another 240 wagon... and I think I have space to keep both of them. New one has the earlier style headlights and different wheels.
