Honda VFR400R NC30

Post by whizzo944 »

Hello All,
Been here lurking for quite some time waiting for viable hardware design to show it's face.
I have a Honda VFR400R NC30 which is originally carbureted but has been retrofitted with throttle bodies and
associated hardware because the original carbs are usually trouble :-) It is currently running with an MS2
configured as a wasted spark V8 even though it's only a V4 :-)
Can anyone tell me how to register for a Jaguar 0.7 PCB ?

Thanks,

Dave.

+1 on the photos. I dream about these bikes--not many made it to the US :(

Hello,
Do you want photos of the bike with or without bodywork? This bike is a project that seems to
have been going on forever and it's a LONG time since it had any bodywork on it. I have a chinese
fairing kit for it in Repsol colours but it's still in the box, didn't want it damaged :-)

I am working on a similar project - a 1985 VF500F - and think your project would be a great resource for me given the similarities between the engines.
Would you be able to take some pictures of where/how you used your sensors? Specifically the cam position sensor.

Hello,
It has no Cam Position Sensor, only a 36-1 Crank Angle sensor which replaced the 8-1 original
crank sensor on the right hand end of the crank around the starter clutch. On the original set-up
there were 2 variable reluctance sensors at 90 deg. to each other, I'm only using the rear sensor
now, the missing tooth is at 70 deg BTDC of the rear cylinders. Inlet Air Temp sensor is in the airbox,
Throttle Position sensor is on the throttle bodies, :-) , Water Temp sensor is tapped into the
thermostat housing. Engine runs like a V8 with both rear and both front cylinders using wasted spark.
I haven't got around to photos yet but maybe this week.

Hello All,
Finally some photos of my bike, I will post some more when it isn't raining here so I can wheel it out of my shed :-)
