Hello, its me, the most active lurker

So I am here to present my offroad machine, its a 1989 Nissan Patrol Y60 GR (short wheel base)

Image

More pictures in Google+ Album for low noise.

It was some mods like:
Mickey Thomsoms Baja Claw 35"
Manual 4 wheel drive select front hubs.
Old man emu shocks with blinstein springs.
Metal front and rear bumpers
Winch.
Diff gearing ratios reduced to 5.21:1
Steering shock absover with coil.
Negative offset wheels.
And other obvious in the pictures.

The truck is in suprisingly good shape, no squeats and everythings feels solid, and it barelly had any offroad use before.

Nice seating and the rocket lancher and machine gun control panel is already installed ;)

"Stars in the sky, Gr's on earth" is the rough translation

Looking forward to share the future mods and get your feedback.

I will add one essential metric, exhaust gas temperature.
The first obvious solution would be the AEM Pyrometer kit wich its the full package. Does not have peak memory or alarm, but the analog output is handy for logging.

After talking with the master/lunatic/insane/awesome/guru/icelandic TekniQue, and his per cylinder probe setup.

The probe and the coupling are cheap and if their good enough for him, they're probably enough for me. :lol2:
Having per cylinder monitoring would be awesome to get the timing just right, espicialy since the rd28 is known to have the 5th and 6th cylinder way hotter than the others when you squeze the pump juice (probably bad fuel distribution).
Question would be were sending this data too. I am thinking either get the arduino with an i2c shield or the extra TA board i have here. Either one should be intersting.
Any sugestion would be great.

So I have a small TODO list:
  • The winch free movement switch does not work, probably some rust is holding it toghether.
  • The passenger door window elevator does not work, and since the previous owner took the winch remote, i hacked the button on the addtional button placeholder next to the locker switch to control it (winch > window elevator, my priorities :lol2: )
  • Need an antenna for the CB Radio.

Today I started the winch rebuild.
I was planing to at least have the winch disassembled today, but very rusty fasteners wanted to make life harder.
I managed to get them all out with patience and care.

Everything out.

I also found some expected dodgy wiring.

This goes to the winch controller inside de cabin and to the other controller connector on the bumper.

Looking more and I found loose wiring that goes nowhere. And more badly done stuff.

Opened the winch, and It was needing serious love.

Was being purely lubrificated by mud.

There is buttload of photos on the album of the process.

This is the best I can do with the brushes I have, don't really want to scracth with a brush that is too hard.. I will buy a decent set from dremel so I will be ready next maintenace.

Its ready for assembly, got Auto Transmission fluid and a good selant to keep the mud and water away.
I need to order a set o Bolts and Nuts to hold the winch in (current ones are rusty) and the local shop does not have those measures

ATF fluid? Don't you mean EP or moly grease?
