2008 Toxic Sol

Post by ToxicGumbo »

This Pontiac Solstice was my first new vehicle purchase. Previously, I had driven or owned only used or hand-me-down cars: a Ford Taurus, Chrysler LeBaron, Toyota Tercel, Honda Civic, Chevy Beretta, and a Chevy Malibu. The Malibu began to have so many superficial problems that I took out a loan and went shopping for whatever "the creators of the Trans-Am" had on the market. Pontiac's website won me over instantly with an interactive image of a black Solstice and by my 34th birthday, Toxic Sol rolled off the lot. 3 speeding tickets and a written warning later, it's still my pride and joy.

"and a chevy Malibu" - this always reminds me of Courtney Love's breasts. Not that they're great or anything, or something that most people haven't seen in person (even I have), but just because of that song, and the fact that she always has them out.

What type of VVT?

Also:

:nopics:

...of your written warning with sensitive details removed. I used to frame mine :-)

That stroke explains the lack of RPM. I wouldn't recommend revving it much higher than stock.

I'm only finding scattered information at the moment, but here are two links with some very basic information on the 2.4L Ecotec LE5:

Remember your trigger exploration when you couldn't find reliable inet info? Reverse engineer this information yourself, incrementally.

The first link is useful. I learned things about your engine from it:

With the solenoid unpowered, your engine will start, run fine, and make no top end at all. Thus we can run your engine, and incrementally add development to the system as required to eventually gain full control of your VVT setup. I think.

Got this on my lunch break while driving through town:

As I was heading to the post office to get these:

But also found this on the car window after leaving work:

Kind of a roller coaster of a day.

(And no, I didn't text the number. I took the officer's relationship advice from earlier and spent the evening watching a movie with my girlfriend.)

Oh come on! You can't post a speeding ticket without the speed! :-) Let's start a pool. 1usd entry. 10 guesses, then we draw.

I guess 45mph.

Re the note, you remind me of something mean I did to my dad years ago. He came home with a phone number on his tshirt, and before he woke up, I'd put it through the wash! LOL :-)

I thought you'd been to America? Jeff has no boobs, so he wouldn't get a warning for more than 5 over, he'd get a ticket :P
