Of all the guesses sent in by our viewers, Fred Cooke's is the closest. The actual alleged speed is 42mph.

Congratulations, Fred. You win a Newton MessagePad 2100.

This thread's going to end pretty quickly at this point. The car has been mostly reverted back to stock shape and will be up for sale in the next couple weeks.

My first dealer-new car that I toured the backroads of Louisiana and Kansas with, that I drove my dad around in while listening to 1940s music, that helped me destress after long days at the office, that took me back and forth to the Houston area when I was visiting my then-girlfriend, and that connected me to the car scene with a sense of wonder and increasing curiosity....will find its way into someone else's driveway.

It's been a good run. Bought on my birthday in 2008, sold in the summer of 2016.

Likely to be replaced by a Honda Fit or something. Oy.

For reference, I believe this is the post I made as a Solstice owner which led me to FreeEMS.

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f12/ ... nes-67200/

I had read about a lot of EFI initiatives (include FreeEMS, lightly) over the year prior, but it was around this time that I really started investigated what was possible. Fred was very responsive through the various FreeEMS Facebook pages and the rest is history.

It's been a pleasure, Jeff! Between you and Peter, you kept me in salt and vinegar chips and wine when I was otherwise incapable of buying a train ride! You're one of a kind! The car, though, can and will be replaced. It's only a matter of time before you dive into something sporty again. I'll wait for that moment patiently! Perhaps even have the privilege of advising on it! :-D Chin up! Thanks for the link, too! :-)

The Solstice was traded in on June 21st, 2016. It was a rare build in its arrangement, 1 in approximately 25. After removing everything I put into it and fixing up the minor aches and pains over the years, it was delivered to a dealer with an aftermarket spoiler (~$110), exhaust (~$1200), and exhaust cover (~$400) that I couldn't remove due to parts sitting in another state.

Today, in passing, I saw it on a lonely country road as it was being driven to another dealer location for some minor body work.

Not much more to say.
