1993 Honda Civic 1.7 VTEC Turbo

Post by mcostabr »

Olá amigos! Tudo bem?

This car is my laboratory, without luxury or frills.
1993 Honda Civic LSi (EG4) Engine from 2001 Honda Civic EX 1.7 VTEC (D17Z3)
The EMS is "by my self" module with Microchip PIC32MX460... and drivers, etc...
I created a protocol to be controlled by other devices, display, computer, mobile.

The engine swap day.

This is a day that I regret, I bought a shitty Brazillian EMS, got a lot of bugs, poor.

I named this EMS "Octane"

My EMS is controled by a serial protocol, the controle must be by external resources, by a display module, by a desktop software or a Android Mobile Bluetooth, see...

The project is ongoing, maybe make a PIC32 FreeEMS.

Really cool, dude. I used to love PICs, but never made anything this intense.

The Android app via bluetooth really takes the project to another level. Is it mostly a visualization tool or can you make on-the-fly adjustments as well?

Love the mellow exhaust note. Those throttle chugs sound like a stoned elephant.

hameeds, I let you get away with that post because the OP of this thread did the same in your thread. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, etc. In future, spamming others threads about your stuff without commenting on their stuff = post disallowed.

Nice car!

You don't see many guys swap a D17 engine in a Honda.
Most guys put a D17 crank in a D16 and run a modified Honda OBD-I ECU.

I guess you are still using stock / standard pistons and connecting rods ? I think the stock engine would not hold much more than 0.7 bar of boost.

Are you willing to share any of the source code and/or schematics of your project or do you want to keep it private ?

Love the fact that you post on this forum even with the language barrier!!

Bangbug, thank you amigo!

ToxicGumbo, I really love PIC32, things imported are complicated to buy, also very expensive. Microchip it is easy, have on the domestic market. The Android Software does everything, I'm still developing functions.

hameeds01, Let's do a partnership to build a PIC FreeEMS?

Fred, obrigado amigo!!!

DaWaN, It is true that nobody likes to D17. I bought the engine in new condition, which will not give problems, there was no interest in do modifications, turbo, etc. But I'm addicted and very stubborn, engine internals is all stock. I have another car... a EG6 B16A DOHC VTEC engine, without modifications, all stock. ;) The language is not a problem, I totally understand you, maybe you have trouble to understanding me, but the time will make me good.

I want to open the project, I am looking for partners, my will is do a open project design, like FreeEMS or do integrated with this party.

The hameeds01 would be a good partner, but it seems he is only interested in publishing your videos.

I do not have any documentation, the core is this: https://www.olimex.com/dev/pic32-pinguino-micro.html

The EMS board is a simple prototype board with transistors IRFZ44N to drive injectors and another basic components.

If you want to open it, publish the sources on github.com :-)

I'm interested in the android app, mostly.

That is the most wild fuel map I've ever seen :-)

I provide the code with greater pleasure, better, let's talk about doing the same protocol, all resources will be compatible.

At the beginning of the project, thought about using MegaSquirt, but gave up because of bureaucracy.

The display module core is Arduino, an ATmega328.
