Andy's 1997 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 build

Post by DeuceEFI »

I brought home a 1997 Ford Mustang with a 3.8L V6 with the following:

EDIS
Alloy heads
Headers
X-pipe
Unfortunately it has a 4r70w 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission so I will need to figure out how to control that once the factory ECU is removed...

Unfortunately the engine only made it 20 miles out of the 80 mile trip home before the P.O.'s head gasket replacement job went bad. I will post to this thread as the engine rebuild happens along with the change-over from Ford factory ECU to FreeEMS with one of my Jaguar A3 boards.

Please post your comments in this comments thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1611

EDIT: X-pipe was H-pipe

Unfortunately I'm in a legal battle with the previous owner over the title to this vehicle... :-(
Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon...

Ok, after replacing the both lower ball joints, both struts, the inner and outer tie rod ends on both sides and having the car aligned, replacing the spark plugs, the plug wires and the EDIS coil pack I think I'm done working on the Mustang mechanically for the time being. In as much as it could have from the factory it runs like a scalded (small) dog when you floor it.

As of now it is a stable/reliable 3.8L v6 EDIS test platform that we can use for future FreeEMS EDIS testing. :-)
