I don't usually post up an progress stuff in this thread because its just a showoff thread really, but there was some EFI relevent progress today, so I thought I would for a change!

^ that is how it looked 3 years ago, when most of the other pics here were taken too.

Earlier today it looked even worse because in the mean time there have been quite a few passengers with dirty feet and donuts and windy roads etc etc etc. But tonight I can see the floor!!! and by tomorrow arvo it'll be tidy and neat and lovely and much easier to tap into for say running ms and FreeEMS in parallel ;-)

Big end bearing is toast, so it might be a while before FreeEMS does a ripper. I did try to do FreeEMS rippers in the USA but all the videos are sadly embarrassing and will never see the light of day :-)

Unfortunately, I spent all my money on wine and fuel and food and flights and somehow ended up broke and jobless with the bottom of an overdraft drawing ever nearer (oh the pun). Thus it's staying together for the forseeable future. It still runs ok, and makes power, but its knockin' bad and won't last long :-) I may install FreeEMS on the bastard regardless, if so, I'll finish the f*cking engine off with the very first FreeEMS ripper just for you.

dang. i wasn't aware the big end bearing took a crap.
any forseeable reasoning why??

im excited to see free ems in person & running :)

how much are bearings anyhow good sir??

No idea how much bearings cost, probably not much.

Failure was due to my behaviour and the cheap oil I was "rinsing it out" with. I was bouncing it off the rev limiter at 7500 for a few minutes at full throttle and full boost. The oil got hot (no temp gauge) and thin (no pressure gauge) and stopped lubricating. I nursed it home as soon as I noticed and the knock isn't bad. With some luck, it's off with the sump and out with the bearings and in with new ones and back on the road.

Well, the knock turned into a major improvement in crankcase ventilation (big hole in block) a few weeks back. I'm just about finished fixing it up now. It's down from 2.0 to 1.8 with the same huge turbo, lower compression, and a few other minor changes.
