Mmmmm, new brake parts for the wild and unruly truck! :-D

These take 314x32mm rotors stock. Unsure what diameter I'll be running, but 32mm is a sure thing :-)

Started writing a post here last night and fell asleep before the second sentence. Let alone hitting the post button...

So, yesterday I bought, paid for, picked up, and brought home a two tonne engine crane for doing the swap, and future swaps, too.

Also picked up the remaining parts of the calipers and had a chin wag with a mate at the same time.

Then I went over to visit the neighbour and ended up drinking half a bottle of wine :-D

Engine crane built, but it can't be used with most cars as it has about 190mm of height and although you might have that in the middle if jacked up a bit, you likely won't out to the sides due to suspension arms hanging down etc.

SO, tomorrow I shall be modifying mine to have about 30mm of ground clearance and 80mm less ride height. With these mods I should be able to use it with the ute, and other lower vehicles in future :-)

I might also move the one wheel from my 3 wheeled engine stand, and move the two from the crane onto that, making it four wheels and more stable. Or not. We'll see.

Fred, I got a breakdown picker that has the wheels mounted to the bottom of a 3" square tube, so its about 6 inches tall and hits the bottom of my car too. I usually jack up as mentioned but if you mount the wheels at the end of the tube and not under it, you can reduce the height of the legs. Maybe weld an extension to the roof of the channel and them bolt wheel to that? Or run the wheel on an axle out the side. youll lose your directional but its far easier to steer from the rear anyway. I can break mine down and put it in the back seat of my sedan. Thats how I grabbed this....boot even closed!

Yep, exactly what I'm doing. Would have finished, but didn't have the right steel stock to do the front wheels. Back ones are done enough to use, rough as guts welds.

Spent a few hours today working on lowering the crane and stabilising the engine stand, too. Got the brackets for the rear wheels welded on and bolted up. 70 or 80mm lower! Down from about 180mm at the under-car end to about 115mm once I'm done. Should clear the bottom of the ute OK like this. Going to order some steel tomorrow to finish the job tomorrow night. Maybe I can pull the block tomorrow night,or tuesday night.

Also added a stud for the handle to rest on when it's stowed. OEM setup simply didn't work at all.

Yup, thats is. When mine is stowed, I have cleavis pin positions that keep the legs up. Mine is same picker but in red.

Picked up some steel stock to finish this job earlier today. Won't be home early enough to actually do that, though. Should get it done tomorrow night, however.

Also planning to tighten up on the vertical position of the legs. As is, they hang too far out or in. Would like to pin them pretty much vertically instead.

No welding got done, but I did buy a pilot bearing for the new engine :-) Installation soonish, hopefully.

Welding got done last night! The engine crane is now lowered in the weeds and ready to rumble! :-D
