Should you ever have problems with your 4 ignitors.
the Bosch 0 227 100 211 is a 4 channel ignitor and seems very strong. can get it at a wrecking yard.
Subaru nissan audio and more use them.

Must say, i just red over this.
I love the project.

My family sparky told me that he has never seen a J701 or J121 die :-) mops from this forum ran high dwell on a 6 cyl in dizzy mode through one of them with insufficient heatsinking and didn't kill it. Mine are very relaxed driving one coil only.

Good to know. I *think* there is a thread on that somewhere, if I had more time I'd dig it up.

Thanks man! :-) It'll be cool when it's finished and totally stealth and has FOSS code and hw running in it.

Last night the last essential pieces of engine went on. Today is tidy up some wiring/attach a few hoses, brace the block to the chassis, and screw with my ms2 to make it run with a different trigger. However, today also marks a special moment, my Puma boards arrived! So, the ute should be running FreeEMS in a few days/weeks, and how good will that feel! Ute, built by me, software coded by me, hooray! Just need to ditch the LC1 and it'll be 100% diy and 100% open source. The only parts of that truck that aren't modified are the dash and guts of the dash, ie, not much! I learned to drive in it, too. It's a special truck for me. And it's about to get even more special! :-)

Fired it up around 330am this morning and took it for a drive! The 1.8 runs sweetly and I do not miss the 200cc and the short stroke will be nice insurance :-)

Gotta sort out the ignition today, dodgy plugs, then confirm sweeeeeeeeeeeet running. Then write code :-o

I've updated the first post in this thread to reflect the new and much improved state of Engine Management on the vehicle! I'm proud to announce that this truck is now under FreeEMS control and is NEVER going back under MS control again, period. See the first post for a picture and short explanation.

Goodbye engine number two... Another rod failure, too much boost/torque/power for the stock bits, again. Fail.

Just the man I wanted to talk to! Got a land line? I'd like to have a chat! :-)

Damage to the block? Yes! Here is a fb pic for starters, more later:

Block is very well ventilated again...

But, holy fcuk was it quick... :-)

Future plan is:

F8 crank
FE-DOHC 10:1 pistons
Custom HIGH quality rods and rod bolts
FE5A cams or custom hotter cams

The rest the same. With that combo I could reliably rev to 8500, make lots of power, torque and be happy. Past that I'd need a dry sump.
