DeuceEFI: Did you throw the AC system together in a brute force manner or did it require special prep and line decontamination? I would think the latter's necessary in all cases, but far less of an issue than with an already-in-use system.

ToxicGumbo: After I assemble the AC system I run a vacuum pump on the closed system for anywhere from 6-8 hours to pull all the water out of the system and then I leave the vacuum gauge attached with the vacuum pump off for 4-6 hours to check to make sure there are no leaks before filling the system with oil and refrigerant.
