Got home early today and fitted the bung and filled with a mere 5 litres of
10w40 "semi synthetic" (group III/group II blend?) and a bottle of nulon lifter
cleaner. Started it up and oil light went out a few seconds later, then another
second or two later the oil service indicator went out. I've not looked up how
those work, but it was right :-) Warmed it up with a 10 minute idle, then gave
it a full throttle rev out to redline or so and zero smoke came out, no rattles,
all smooth and quiet. Lovely. If I take it for some in-BMW-chassis abuse, it'll
get another 3 litres oil first. But for now the higher nulon to oil ratio is superior.
I'll heat cycle it a few times like this before adding more oil. Next steps aside
from maybe a skid or two, is strip and remove from the car. To do that I need
the garage fully organised, so that'll be my focus, including the press project
which is on the floor taking up space. I also have to sort out the hotel and
Suzuki which are annoying other people and get them WOFs. Never a dull
moment. More news as it comes to hand, but possibly not much for a week or so.

Gave the oil filler neck a thorough clean, too. And put the 9 or so litres of
filthy brown oil into a bottle for disposal or other use as a fuel. Tweets/pics:

Gave the mighty V12 a warm up just now, and a post-warm up rev to the
sky. Thought I'd held my foot on the throttle just long enough to reach the
limiter, however I heard the limiter at least 3 or 4 times or about half of the
time I was flooring it. I guess the inertia to torque ratio is quite favourable :-D

A few more heat cycles like this, and a coolant dump/flush/fill with fresh
water and I'll have to start taking it to pieces and preparing for the Volvo's
return and implanting of this beast into that rough beast.

Hoping to film a video of a brief driving session at some point, but we'll see.

Got some video of some revving with the V12 earlier :-D Will post
it up to yt and edit a link into this post later tonight :-) Such a nice
engine. Can't wait to rock it in the 244 :-D
