Why's that Fred? Can't believe people can be polite? ;P

Tony, usually I'm very well equipped and your assumption would've almost been true. ;)
In fact I've been looking for an AC(&DC) TIG welder these past days, but I haven't ordered one yet. But that also doesn't mean I'll be instantly good at welding aluminium ;)
I'll have a look at the part once it arrives. I was looking at the picture but I can't quite imagine where the heater element should go...

No, because I've become accustomed to him signing off "Huff" which I have some affection for <3

OK, I'll stay as "Huff"(2) :)

Stefan, I usually sign my posts "Huff" because when Fred and I worked together a couple of years ago, he said that I reminded him of his friend "Huff" (now deceased) I think mainly because I smoke.
But because you were using your "real" name during our correspondence, I thought that it would be polite to use my "real" name which I'm sure Fred was kidding me about. No worries!

I did find a bung (aluminum) on Ebay (shipped from China) but am considering buying a tap for this thread size provided of course that I can find a spot on the throttle body suitable for this purpose.

I want to post a picture of the spiral heater that we hope to use, but can't seem to figure out how to insert a jpg into my post.

Thank you,
Huff

It was much more than that! You looked and sounded and acted similarly too. Almost uncanny. I miss both Huffs, though if I'm lucky, and you add a 'd' to the end of that last sentence, I may see one of them again some day.
but can't seem to figure out how to insert a jpg into my post.
Attach and inline it, or MUCH better: http://imgur.com/

Spiral Intake Air Heater -

Image

It has a M22 x 1.5 thread and is about 65mm long from the seating plane (just above the threaded section) to the end of the spiral heating element.
It draws about 60A @ 12V.
Thanks,
Huff

Hey Tony, (I'll stick with that, thanks for clearing it up Fred)

the throttle body has arrived here today. Had (has) lots of carbon buildup, but I'll leave cleaning it up well to you. :)
Not sure if I make it to the post office today, but sure the package will leave tomorrow.

You might get away with a M22 thread directly in the throttle body and a spacer under the heating element. Inner diameter is (iirc) 62mm, plus 3mm or so wall thickness.. but that's all up to you, the package is closed already ;)

I'll send you the paypal details via pm.

Greets,
Stefan

Thank you very much Stefan for doing this for us.
Winter will soon be here and we are hoping that this will help keep the engine running smoothly after the glow plugs turn off.

As far as the carbon build-up, my son is the "black crap" parts cleaning expert as he needs to do this on almost every internal engine part that he has worked on for this vehicle. :)

I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Please PM with the PayPal details.

Thanks again!
