Public backup record

Post by Admin »

I'm going to update this list and bump each time I backup, if you think I've gone too long, post here and I'll do one as soon as I see it within reason :-)

Target is weekly or whenever something important gets posted. Ideal would be daily and automated, but that's not possible at the moment unfortunately. I'll look into it some other time.

Latest at the top :

1/7/08 2:30am NZ std time.
25/6/08 8:00pm NZ std time.
9/6/08 10:00pm NZ std time.

Just did one!

There were more recent ones than the thread indicated, though.

It's not automated yet, two reasons :

1) I didn't finish getting the backup stuff nice.
2) I don't have a remote box (cept yours) to backup to right now.

If I could resolve 1) you could help with 2) but the chances of that soon are slim :-(

As with everything else, this will happen with time.

All important files on the server are backed up now, well, almost all. The only thing that remains to be made better is the database backups. Right now I do them manually every week or so. I'd like it much better if they were automatic, to another server and locally, incremental, and daily.

I figured you guys would all hunt me down and kill me if we lost forum content over the last month or so... I've been so busy writing awesome firmware code that maintenance took a slide. I just backed up the forum to the server and to my own box that I keep on my person, so things are safe once again. I'll try to automate this process over the next 4 weeks or so. It NEEDS to be done...

Automation is still an utter fail. I just backed up the forum contents again, and am in the process of running a backup of ALL of the websites right now. And no, the last one wasn't in 2011, much more recently. Trying to get everything backed up and squared away so I can feel secure about my and our data for the next few months as I'll be very busy during that period.

Google automysqlbackup.sh (if you use mysql...)

Your host should backup your disk regularly I would have thought...
