slant six sequential...
Where do I put the 1 tooth on the camshaft gear in relation to the crank #1 TDC? trying to figure it out. MS states 120 BTDC but thats for a 4 cyl. Im going to fashion 1 tooth on my slants camshaft gear so I can pick it up on a 2nd VR sensor through the timing chain cover, next to my 36-1 crank VR sensor. This is for a future sequential setup.
Re: slant six sequential...
It shouldn't matter much, but avoid it being inline with the missing tooth, I guess, if you want to do something logical. There is no support for missing + sync at the moment. Adding it is trivial, however adding it properly is non-trivial. Beware of claims to be able to add certain things to FreeEMS quickly, usually that means it's a hack job.
As for not being able to do sequential just yet, don't worry about that. You're going to find out that semi-sequential runs your engine very well indeed.
Fred.

Re: slant six sequential...
cool. one older (maybe much older) capabilities post says "6 cyl sequential, injection only". Is that still the case with proper motor setup with Jags 6 channels? Semi sequential it is for now.
Re: slant six sequential...
That is still the case, however having a proper mappable and mapped ignition system is VERY important, so I'd strongly recommend running ignition control.

Re: slant six sequential...
Ok , confirmed anywhere but missing tooth @VR sensor. can I do a falling edge trigger (just notching edge of a smooth gear for a "missing tooth") or does jaguar prefer a physical rising/falling tooth.
Re: slant six sequential...
Last I checked you had a ford 36-1 that was compatible with EDIS, if that's still true, use it. If that's not true, explain your idea :-)

Re: slant six sequential...
Semi sequential 6cyl distributor ignition: EDIS running the VR and the coil pack (does multispark below 1800 rpm!) Jag advising EDIS (through distributor ignition in) of timing tables (if the EDIS responds to timing variations not based on a proprietary EEC4 code). CMP sensor will be used for future jag full sequential or perhaps MS2 with Jaguar going onto a future MPFI Turbo 4.7L V8 build. Just picked up a T70 turbocharger for that...
EDIS was bought for MS2, prior to Jaguqar so its not imperative I use it but It looks like it would fit the build as it has a VR conditioner built into it and would make the 2 wire interface very simple. I could do JAg's native 6 cyl Semi sequential injection AND Wasted spark ignition just using the Ford coil packs too, but semi sequential still needs a CMP sensor...?
Still researching, which I can do while sitting at a computer drinking a Coffee, going and doing it properly requires a well thought plan.

Re: slant six sequential...
I do not use "CMP" and "CKP" as terms because they are meaningless.
All you need for semi + wasted is crank-mounted missing tooth.

Re: slant six sequential...
Easier than typing "camshaft position" and "crankshaft position" huh, I just typed those......
Re: slant six sequential...
More meaningful, but still not very. You could have a crank position sensor that doesn't give you more information than a distributor. Or you could have a CAS that doesn't give you any more than a distributor. Both exist. Missing tooth crank wheel sums up what you have, right? :-p
