Piston Overstress

Post by SleepyKeys »

The amazing part is that there is not one scratch on the cylinder walls. I only noticed a problem when I developed a misfire due to excessive aluminum dust on one plug. I'm going to put in a forged set this time. I guess not too bad for running over 100 gallons of fuel though it.

You could always clean them up and call them "Lightened" pistons. :lol2:

I used to race highly modified "Victor" lawn-mower engines in a go-kart, the funny thing was that they ran better after "seizing" the engine once then freeing the piston up with a bit of oil. Then they ran great for ages.

The Victa (Oops, just realised I spelt it wrong before  ) engines were two-strokes but I get where your coming from, the extra clearance probably helped. We were reving them to 7500rpm, normally they only saw 3000rpm cutting grass.
