Ah good news!

The right gasket arrived, head fitted, cams timed, Vanos fitted, cam cover sprayed black powder finish.

Tomorrow:
fit the cam cover intake, and associated pipework, fit the radiator and refill, fit stainless manifold, change oil, plugs and filter, fire her up!

Take for spin!

OK........... Really good news!

She lives! started first time perfectly, took a while to get the air out of the cooling system but she is smooth no leaks or spare nuts and bolts.
I haven't braved it on MS2 yet I'll run it for a day or two on standard Bosch ECU before risking it.

Tomorrow I have to put all the plastic cowling's on the engine and the passenger side wiper back.

only bad thing is I wasn't able to fit my stainless manifold. it looks like it is made for the left hand drive market, so it will either have to have some modifications or sell it on and get a genuine RHD one. I will be taking a look tomorrow with a view to getting the old plasma cutter and TIG welder out!
