More thoughts:

Rubbish collection, small scale, larger scale
Dirty laundry, what scale? Transfer to boot of car and/or wash.
Drying wet things - clothes line in front of dash?
Holes in bottom = insects entry, not nice: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 4146307072
Should be sealed, minus vents with fine mesh over them to prevent any pest ingress.
Existing under-dash vent should be covered with a mesh
New floor should be fully sealed and have no hiding spaces that can't be sprayed with killer.
Will need to design sill-floor interface anyway, so can ensure it makes max sense for strength and gap-free-ness

Distances covered on the maiden voyage:

450 Home to Hastings via Napier
336 Hastings to Kati Kati
71 Kati Kati to Ngatea (for gas, just in time!)
101 Ngatea to Home

Total: 958km on the caravan's first expedition!

And 120 more for the tow car on its first big trip outside the city! :-)

Exactly 13 days after I had her back in my arms! <3 "Guitar!"

Need to ponder exactly which things I can do to this in order to make it more livable before the Kai Iwi lakes trip! If that's happening. I hope it is.

But I'm not going to ponder that tonight! :-p Shower and bed, work tomorrow.

And today a nice lady from Auckland Transport paid my address a visit while I was at work. She spoke to someone there and told them I couldn't do what I am doing, parking wise. So tonight I went on a mission to find legislation that says that I can. And what I found is this: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 8223654913

So that answers the question of "what was the writing on the tyres", and I was right, to measure time of parking, as usual. But the time period for parking is, as you can see, 7 days, for a trailer, in Auckland.

I'm off to find out if the tyres have been remarked. The earliest I could have an issue is about 9pm on Sunday night, but the latest is 5 minutes before the date/time on the tyres right now, if any.

I have a few choices to face:

1) Get rid of it and scrap the project

2) Find someone's place to put it at

3) Pay a storage yard for storage of it

4) Move it every week, or as the tyres are marked

5) Leave it there indefinitely accumulating tickets on a weekly basis, or less, and pay 500 less a year than storage, or more.

For now, option 4 it is. :-p

And the results are... Marked 10th January 11:10am? In any case, if moved by midnight Monday 16th of January I have at least another week before needing to move it again: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 9099407360

I can't really remember, but I think I moved it just once on that Monday night to its new home, not too far away. Tonight I retrieved it unharmed from that new home and put it back on the lawn. Tomorrow we'll fill it with goodies and it will be drag racing HQ as secure storage of our gear while we race :-)

It even excited the ABS of the Stagea this evening in the damp down hill. Really really needs a braked coupling, as does the ute. So I guess that's somewhat high on the list, up there with the other stuff I've listed above and promptly forgotten - hence writing it down!

I did pull it, but we didn't end up racing, so on the Sunday night (19th) I put it back into the dragon's lair. It survived over a week without chalk, but when I went to pick it up on Thursday arvo just gone (2nd) it had chalk again.

Thursday night I filled it with stuff and prepared for an early departure on Friday arvo. Success, except possibly one speed camera ticket as braking isn't particularly responsive and you're only supposed to do 90. Worst case 20 over, IIRC. Alas, I may be able to argue that I was being tailgated by a Volvo? :-)

Friday arvo at the track looked like this: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 9975174144 and this: https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/ ... 1586432003

Overall we put another 130km on it - it's second significant usage! I put it away back in the dragon's lair again last night and anticipate a chalk-motivated move again in a week or two.

Where to next? :-) [pun intended]

Apologies for keeping the record in this way, but it's part of the journey, really :-)

Took the caravan for a spin tonight! To wear off the chalk I took it down
the motorway at speed, over bumps, through loose seal, and back. Put
it back on the opposite side of the road for its next encounter with the
parking wardens on rich-man's pretty-street patrol. PS: Fuck you :-)

Towed it behind the latest greatest in the fleet and this is how it looked:

Moved weekly for the last few weeks... moved tonight, put back 8pm. For my reference.

May have got a $40 ticket as I was supposed to move it last night IIRC (but no record).

Not on the windscreen, but may be in the mail all the same. If so, one ticket per year of street storage ain't bad :-)

Moved and re-WOFed today, currently indoors, will be back on the street last thing Sunday night :-)

Also removed the haggard old rear wiper blade/arm combo. Just a stud there, now.
