Next chores: Diff swap, suspension tweaks, floor flatten. Close to usable now :-)

For initial winter use, this thing will need some sort of heat source in order to keep the wife happy and the marriage intact.

Years ago I built a set of power amplifier test loads out of banks of 5w 10ohm resistors, 10 in parallel to get 1ohm with reasonable precision, and four sets of those in series to get 4 ohms. 40x5w = 200w max power handling, per set. Two sets per board. Two boards completed and usable.

Wiring could be series-parallel, parallel, or series.

800w: 1 ohm, 16 ohm, 4 ohm
600w: 1.33 ohm, 12 ohm
400w: 2 ohm, 8 ohm
200w: 4 ohm

If we assume 12v loaded voltage from a bank of lead acid batteries, then:

V = IR
V/R = I
P = VI
P = V^2/R

12 * 12 = 144

144 / 1 = 144w
144 / 1.33 = 108w
144 / 2 = 72w
144 / 4 = 36w
144 / 8 = 18w
144 / 12 = 12w
144 / 16 = 9w

36W = 12V x 3A, per set.

3, 6, 9, 12A draw levels

I have 8 or 10 55AH SLA batteries, best case 550AH, worst case 25AH * 8 ~= 200AH

should be able to get two nights at 108w output before charging, or more! (or less)

Plus 50w * 2 = ~200w into the caravan throughout the night, vs ?w loss through glass and floor etc. Hopefully 108w is sufficient to not freeze :-)

Water blasted the exterior of this today, all lichen gone. As an experiment I put a bit of elbow grease into polishing about 1/4 of the roof on the left side to see if it helps prevent lichen growth.

It now holds a handful of tiny brake parts for its future axle, and three ~50l containers for future toilet experiments for future off-grid living and boat use.

Two weeks till the Mrs sleeps in it for the first time. Heating solution will be implemented before then :-D

Don't worry, arseholes, it'll be finding a new home on our private land pretty soon. :-p

Duvet and three further pillows inserted late last night. Have to move it by end of day, too, or I'll get fined.

The little bit of polishing I did on it the other day made a huge difference:
