Thermal barrier between cylinder head and intake manifold.

I know there are loads of variables like IAT, manifold temperature, volume, cross-sectional area, air speed, level of laminar flow, wet/dry air, driving style... But to generalise horribly, for a daily driver that gets a frequent spanking, is it worth $60 for a phenolic/similar spacer?

I doubt it. My manifold is heavily heated on purpose. Because of this the fuel pouring through it is vapourised effectively and it runs great. I doubt there's much time for the tiny outer layer of air to be heated and mixed as each cylinder gulps in a mouthful ;-) At low loads/airflows you don't care. At higher loads/airflows it's a tiny percentage.

Yeah I assumed if I spent $60 improving my intercooling it would have a larger effect. I wondered if anyone knew otherwise because it's such an easy addition to make and if I bought one I'd probably have a go at 3D printing a plastic diffuser plenum manifold. Bodged stock manifold and paper gaskets it is :-)
