Congrats on getting it up and running :-)

I had a hunch you'd still need a gate on it! Good foresight there on your part to include a fitting for it.

That turbine housing is HUGE :-) Then again, the Bullseye ones are smallish... but still!

I have a smiley for you here :

I just need to find someone with a video camera...and it has to have good sound. The sound is more impressive than anything else at this point lol.
The outside of the car is ugly and I can't run the thing out in the RPM because I need a new spring for the wastegate, I don't think the 4psi one that came with the knockoff will hold nearly enough boost. Still got a lot of bugs to work out.

Borrowed a timing light, and was able to get the base timing right. It was 10 degrees lower than reported by the MS. Made a HUGE difference, especially in throttle response, off boost torque.
I need another radiator fan, the single 14" slimline isn't cutting it, especially with the low voltage from the bad alternator. Its going to have to be smaller and one that the blades are reversible so I can use it as a pusher, there isn't room for one on the drivers side of the radiator due to the turbo.

Still haven't been able to rev it out, still waiting on a new wastegate spring for the 38mm gate.
Decided to log the boost response while driving on the interstate tonight. Starting in 5th gear at ~3000 rpm. This is with the 14b actuator with no boost controller.

Just under .95 seconds to go from 70kpa cruise to 9psi of boost.

For some reason photobucket fucks up the colors of the image and washes them out.

Save it as a PNG instead as that is the most suitable format. Then make sure that photobucket is set to 1meg limit instead of resolution if that is most appropriate, then go for it. It will only munge the colours if it converts it. It will only convert it if it is over size or res.

Wow. nice work. I miss my DSM. I cant wait for some vids, that thing looks wicked. is it AWD?

On another note I can confirm the problems with Garrets VGT acuation. Im a Ford Tech and we see them having problems quite freqeunlty. On the 6.0 diesels the actuator works on oil pressure and a little corrision in the housing will stop it in its tracks. The new 6.4L diesels are using an electric motor and it sweeps the entire vgt range every time the key is cylced to prevent build-up inside the housing.

Reuploaded it with the 1 meg option. Looks better.

Stupid me, finally figured out why it wouldn't rev over 4200 rpm at over half throttle. I thought it was running extremely rich and breaking up. I had the 2 step turned on and not connected to the switch, with the circuit I had it was enabled on 100% of the time over ~50% throttle.

lol, i had a similar issue with my rev limiter on my first drive :-) my mate says "that sounds JUST like a rev limiter" i said "ummmm, sorry lol".

As for jpeg, it is fully of tricks to make natural pictures look right to the eye. You can not do sharp edges and text in it properly at all. Even if you up the quality... PNG is the right choice for a number of reasons :-)
