So long 496, you will be missed.

Well it's the end of the road for my 496. Looks like it melted the head off an exhaust value and you can see where things went from there.

Defective parts IMO(ebay). I should have known the gear was no good when I had to customize the guide plates.

Ouch is a horrific understatement.

Interesting to see the clearance around the valves in the block. I can't say that I've ever seen that...

They still make the head gaskets like that for compatibility with older style heads. You don't have to clearance the block with late model heads. Some old timer told me that the out of round shape is more detonation resistant......?
