I dug out these old picks of a 100cc kart engine I destroyed in spectacular fashion. It was a borrowed engine due to siezing my own motor the day before (water contaminated fuel). This one let go on the main straight at full revs locking up the back wheels and sending me spinning into a ditch.
When I started to pull it apart I found little end bearing rollers in the airbox. The top of the piston was still in the cylinder, there were large chunks out of the cylinder and the rod had disintegrated along with the piston skirt.
The engine was a 100cc ReSa for those interested.

Re: Kart engine blow-up
Ah yes, good times
The sound of a air-cooled vortex screaming at 20.000rpm while pre-igniting and detonating is something special. (yes, on purpose, without blowing up)
I've probably destroyed something close to 100 kart-pistons. Have had a couple of con-rods melt at the big end, but not once blown to pieces.
So only cheap engine blow-ups for me I guess
