Hi, I've been thinking about this for a while and it's an important issue. What parts equivalent, or identical can we get in various parts of the world.

To this end this thread now exists, I'll start the ball rolling with mine.

Please include the retail limited range types of place aswell as the large internet/trade type suppliers.

New Zealand and Australia
Retail :
http://www.dse.co.nz / http://www.dse.com.au
http://www.jaycar.co.nz / http://www.jaycar.com.au

Trade :
http://www.tradetech.co.nz
http://nz.farnell.com / http://au.farnell.com
http://www.rsnewzealand.com / http://www.rsaustralia.com/

England
Retail :
http://www.maplin.co.uk

Trade :
http://uk.farnell.com/
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/

I know there are members on here from America, Finland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, etc.

Please post your additions in a similar format. In that way when someone suggests a part, they can have pre-checked its availability in countries that we have outlets for.

Admin.

US sources for me

1 Digikey
2 Future electronics
3 Mouser
4 Jameco

I also buy stuff on Ebay ( huge surplus stuff resistors, capacitors, leds, ect) as you can buy big lots for nothing mostly surplus over stock parts but some super deals if you look around this can save you alot of money when it comes to buying from a supplier be sure to check the prices though so you dont pay what the normal supplier would charge .

Example i bought a 43lb box of tape and real resistors and capcitors ( all most every value 1206 series SMD) for 160.00 US there was over 8000.00 US worth of components in this box mostly brand new never opened reals.

Components/dev boards/kits
http://www.futurlec.com
run by aussies, but ships from thailand, shipping is very reasonable

Soldering tools/components/general tools
http://www.circuitspecialists.com
for anything soldering related they are very good and cheap. They also have cheap power supplies signal generators and the such. Good place to buy equipment for a home-lab. Shipping is brutally expensive outside of USA.

Misc consumer type of electronics
http://www.dealextreme.com
They have tonnes of cheap chinese made knock-off gadgets; cell phones, bluetooth, USB-serial converters, cables, etc... It is kinda like bestbuy but without the brand-names you are used too.

Edit: Oops I did not see the "local", all my places are on the net.

Not exactly local for most folks, but a decent resource for custom extruded aluminum.

http://www.almag.com/

I seem to recall the die was a flat fee at around $250 then you pay by the lb on your extrusions. The also offer custom band sawn length and anodizing at reasonable prices. I think the extrusions would cost around $2 to $3 US dollars for this size project.

Of course had already seen those as $8 from Jerry in the US means about £8 when the get here, and 9 Euros in Holland is not what you would call decent pricing.

Need to buy at trade not retail, but thank you any way.

Edit Qty 50 or 100
