There is speed, and absolute position. If you setup your LC correctly, you can be fairly sure its close as it has been side by sided with 10 other controllers and an accurate calibrated one too.

As much as i like my LC-1 i'm not totally sure that i like the innovate gear. We use a LM-1 on the race car (Yamaha R6 600cc 4cyl bike engine with S/C) and it invariably gives us grief almost every time we use it. It will often decide that it cannot get a proper reading and will read too rich when im 100% sure that it is not. Its done this for 3 years now and with a wide range of different exhaust designs and sensor locations so im reasonably sure its not due to that. We have access to a Autronic wideband unit and that never skips a beat so its definitely to do with the controller.

The other thing that is both good and bad about the innovate is its refresh rate is very high. Now if you have a system where the AFR is changing a lot and you want a average value it is almost impossible with an LC-1, it also makes autotune with a MS a bit like pushing shit uphill. A slower update rate may be a good point of the JAW rather than a bad one.

I would also be keen to do some back-to-back comparisons of innovate vs. LC-1

The LC1 has internal averaging that you can adjust and the MS has averaging that is adjustable too. I haven't heard people whinging about that before in that context. In terms of correlating an AFR reading with an engine event, speed is good. A well tuned engine shouldn't have it's afrs wavering too much anyway. At least, not on the time scale we are talking about when you go from say, lean lift off to full boost (17:1 > 10:1 worst case). That takes a significant amount of time from a CPU perspective.

Extra speed seems ok to deal with, but the lack of repeatability bothers me.

When used in their internal software, I'd gotten numbers like 76:1. :-)

I will say the cost is right, I wonder the size of the board.

I was looking a little closer at this and thought for a bike it'd be pretty handy to have on board.

I'd love to have him incorporate his work on a compact all in one ECU for use on motorcycles.

FYI grosspolluter from MS forums, Nick, I forget his name on here, just picked one up. I'll be checking it out soon.

Also, I'm interested to see just the guage, might be a nice addition for those of us who don't really have one.
