Anyone speak French?? ...

I don't speak French! :-(

But I do need to fly out of England on the 7th or 8th...

Hmmmmmm

Anyone care to meet me there and offer translation and drinking buddy services? :-)

The French speaking part is not a problem but the meeting you there part is. I wish I had the funds to go there but it's not realistic at this time.

Yeah, to be fair, it wasn't really a serious request. I am investigating options though and I may end up there anyway with someone or other or even <gasp> alone.

What would it cost you to get there? (other than time off work)

Fred being an english speaker shouldn't be an issue mate, the sheer number of brainless no-necks we have over here who go on holiday, and they manage to survive mate..

Whatcha doing at Le Mans? Endurance bikes??

You being greedy?? Nurburgring should be enough for anyone ;)

You reckon just wear a T shirt that says "I'm not english, please be nice to me!" ? :-)

Not doing anything in particular, just thinking about going and watching.

And yes, being greedy :-)

Probably won't be back in euro land for a long time so trying to make the most of it. Went to the ring last year in may too, had a good time with my dutch friends and should be good this year too. Last year I drove their race car round it. Second lap was 9:49, not bad for a sub 200hp fwd mazda mx6 :-) First lap was slow and awkward, excitement + dutch language meant i was extra conservative. Still my first lap was same pace as the cool old guy who took me around in his 400hp gt3 rs porsche :-) Very nice car those. I think some of his mates were in the low 8 minute range in theirs.

One of the fastest cars there other than those gt3 rs porsches was a bmw from estonia. If I see it again, I will beg the guy for a passenger lap because he was properly good. Car fastness was mostly down to the driver though... lots of posers and wankers sitting in the carpark patting each other on the back etc. Also, lap time came down to traffic and number of nasty accidents you had to slow down for. The mazda has apparently done mid 8 minutes with the crazy REALLY good dutch guy in it on a clear day. It's not out of the realms of possibility to be honest. I reckon I could pull a flat 9 out of it with a few more laps and some good traffic.

Anyway, will update this thread with Le Mans info if I make it over :-)
