(14:38:58) TekniQue: http://www.bgsoflex.com/mpg.html
(14:39:00) TekniQue: this is funny
(14:39:25) TekniQue: I don't know what it's doing with tyre pressure
(14:39:42) TekniQue: but it gives you worse mileage if you enter a high pressure
(14:39:49) Fred: LOL
(14:39:52) mal|lappy: if (tire.pressure > 30) mpg = mpg * 1.10 else mpg = mpg * 0.90
(14:39:54) Fred: ROFL
(14:40:08) mal|lappy: I thought higher == better?
(14:40:14) mal|lappy: according to obama
(14:40:16) mal|lappy: heh
(14:40:23) Fred: yep, and lower grip, typically
(14:40:36) TekniQue: higher pressure = less friction
(14:40:39) Fred: i used to rock 60psi in my truck on commercials all the time
(14:40:40) mal|lappy: Right, I always ran my rear tires at like, 10psi at the dragstrip
(14:40:47) Fred: but it had the weight to create a contact patch
(14:41:09) mal|lappy: So that calculation on that website SHOULD ask what the typical pressure for your tire is
(14:41:17) mal|lappy: AND what you set it to
(14:41:19) Fred: LOL
(14:41:23) mal|lappy: not just what you set it to, since each tire is different
(14:41:33) Fred: This is BOWLING SUPERIOR how dare you question his authoritar
(14:41:42) mal|lappy: zomg! I be smitted
(14:41:53) mal|lappy: smite'ed
(14:41:55) TekniQue: 0psi gives you 19.7mpg, 100psi gives you 21.86, 21psi nets 26.8mpg
(14:42:07) Fred: LOL
(14:42:08) mal|lappy: lol
(14:42:23) TekniQue: and going to 125psi, it goes to 15.7mpg
(14:42:28) Fred: LOL
(14:42:33) TekniQue: weird curve there
(14:42:34) Fred: doesn't go to BANGmpg ?
(14:42:57) TekniQue: 200psi is 6mpg
(14:43:11) Fred: LOL
(14:43:56) TekniQue: and who the fuck measures brake specific fuel consumption in gallons per hour per hp
(14:44:12) mal|lappy: [08:40] <Fred> This is BOWLING SUPERIOR how dare you question his authoritar
(14:44:19) TekniQue: well done, they managed to create a new imperial unit
(14:44:25) Fred: LOL
(14:44:37) TekniQue: for a commonly used measurement
(14:44:56) TekniQue: when everyone else uses pounds per hp per hour
(14:45:03) masterkorp: metric units > *
(14:45:06) TekniQue: or grams per watt, etc
From that page:

Code: Select all

The following equations were used:

Aero = (0.00256 * cd * farea * mph**3)/375.0
Roll = (((0.015 + 0.0001 * mph) * weight ) * mph )/375.0
Fuel_Consumption = (Aero + Roll + hpmax)*BSFC
MPG = MPH/Fuel_Consumption
Which doesn't mention the tyre pressure at all! The CGI is unavailable, but gives an NaN if you run it directly like this:

http://www.bgsoflex.com/cgi-bin/mpg.cgi

If those MPG figures aren't WTF I don't know what is.

This is from Wimax router firmware. Right next to OpenSSL based encryption routines. I have some doubts about randomness of random numbers used on this device...
