We had a bit of snow last night, and enough overnight to have it still there (just) in the morning.
Just thought I'd put the pathetic pictures up here for a laugh :
No wonder the english don't use barbeques, they'd be cooking in snow!
That's all.

Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
About the same we have in Finland... well perhaps here's a bit more. Shame really, winter driving in proper snow and ice is FUN:(
Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
Yeah, it was falling so slowly that it was melting as it landed really.

Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
That barely qualifies as a snow fall. This winter we've had close to 4m of snow here in Montreal and Quebec (which is about 250km from here) has had over 5m! We've had plenty of real winter driving here even in the middle of the city.

I did say "light" :-p
If it hadn't melted, there might have been 2" total, but it was melting almost as fast as it was falling...
At home the only places it snows seriously are very high up mountains. It's still kind of novel to see it snowing at the place you live in.
5m of snow is a good base for skiing though :-) I'd like to get to Canada from here for some skiing before I head home. Do you ski/board?
My step brother won a prize at the world speed skiing championship a little while back... right before he bailed at 140kph or something lol. Maybe I can find the video...

between 53s and 1:06 is him crashing :-)

Apparently I remembered the speed a little on the high side :-)So for those of you that don't know, I finished my Velocity Challenge world cup speed skiing weekend with a high speed crash. Apparently, my 20 year old skis that were dug out of a snow bank didn't have the structural integrity to handle landing off the first roller at 120km/h. Though, at least it wasn't the second roller at 160km/h. I slid a long way, over a catch fence (20 foot high), a rock face, until I eventually I hit one of the B-fences. Both EMRT teams were there within 20 seconds and I got stretchered off on a spinal board in a toboggan.
On the brighter side, I finished 4th and 5th in the two FIS World Cup races, less than 2km/h off the pace, and came third overall in the Velocity, which is all the weekends runs. So I got me a trophy and prize money, even though I had issues getting on the podium.

Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
This thread is SO going to be "rain hail and snow" backwards!
Hail :

Most hail I've seen fall at once ever, but NZ is a temperate country :-)

Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
Only rain to go!!
First sun I've seen for a while, it was warm enough for shorts and t-shirt on sunday. Very pleasant. I now understand why the pohms think their summer is so good... Contrast! :-)
I bet your "North Americans" also appreciate summer very much more than I do/did.

Re: Light snow in the "midlands"
Sunset on the side of some things with darkish clouds behind them. I thought it looked kinda cool. The camera more or less caught it, though the glow was better IRL for sure.
